How to Soundproof a Floor

How to soundproof a Existing Floor?
Soundproofing a existing floor can be achieved by one of the two options below. The first option is ideal for airborne noise only (I.e. voices and music) and the second option also combats impact noise (I.e. footsteps and loud vibrating noises).

Option 1:
This uses one of our most popular floor product Barrier Mat 4mm IK008 100mm Rock Wool IK084 and Isolation strip IK040 to dampen vibration.

Option 2:
This offers the same as above but reduces impact noise as well. Impactalay Plus IK005. Meets Part E building regulations

To make ready for Vinyl, Wood and Laminate floors.
An extra layer of 6mm plywood must be laid on top of the iKoustic ImpactaLay Plus, secured with iKoustic Impact Adhesive IK052 so that there is no movement or flex that could compromise the new floor over time.

For Concrete floors.

We recommend iKoustic ImpactaLay IK004 with iKoustic Impacta Adhesive IK052
