Product Feature: MuteStop™
iKoustic have introduced a brand-new product to the world of Gym Acoustics as a solution to reducing impact noise issues in weights machines, without dismantling and reassembling the apparatus – MuteStop™.
Gym Acoustics require careful planning and consideration when commercial properties and residential are located within the same property or in neighbouring properties. Large weights can travel through structures by some distance, causing distress and sometimes concern of the structural integrity.
We have provided guidance to gym acoustics and design in more depth in a previous blog which you can find below.
“To minimise the risk of complaints regarding gym noise, we recommend that new mixed-use developments are designed so that noise from the gym is generally inaudible in adjoining dwellings. This is a much higher level of sound insulation than the minimum requirements in Part E of the Building Regulations. Inaudibility is particularly difficult to quantify as it is dependent on the background noise levels and the Gym may not yet have been built. In these cases, iKoustic use nominal design targets such as ...
Design targets for maximum gym noise levels in habitable rooms of adjoining residential properties:
Daytime (0700-2300hrs) - 20 dB LAmax
Night-time (2300-0700hrs) - 10 dB LAmax“
By using MuteStop™ interlocking design to apply directly to the guide shaft, it helps create an elasticated, resilient barrier from the weights slamming into the bottom of the machine – not only protecting the ears of the staff, personal trainers and customers, but also improving the lifespan of the machine by reducing potential damage through vibration.
We supply 3 sets, all depending on the maximum weight being dropped, you can find these below.
