When you are installing a soundproof ceiling with the use of spotlights that are to be recessed into the 'acoustic barrier', it is vital to take whatever measures to ensure the ceiling is as airtight as possible, so not only are the joins of plasterboards filled with acoustic sealant but the recesses that spotlights create will need treating.

Fire and Acoustic Downlighter Covers are the best way to minimise air leakage, and each helps to encase the light without creating a build-up in heat and can be installed from above to solve an already existing ceiling, or from below when creating a new one. They are lightweight, flexible and easy to install, requiring no additional support.

It is essential to minimise the cuts you make in your new soundproofing ceiling, or existing ceiling if you're converting. The more spotlights you introduce into a room, the less effective it becomes.
