A load-bearing, cement particle board for the improvement of airborne noise in flooring systems.

STS TG4 Acoustic Flooring Board 18mm

A load-bearing acoustic flooring board at over double the density of standard P5 chipboards to improve the airborne sound reductions transferring through a floor. Commonly installed on top of our P8 isolation strip a floating floor system can be created. Floating floor systems are some of the highest performing systems for reduction of sound and vibration through floor/ ceiling partitions and when using the STS TG4 acoustic flooring board in place of conventional structural boarding minimal height is added on to the floor build up. The TG4 acoustic flooring boards can be installed on timber joist or metal structures with tongue and groove on four sides to give an airtight seal.

As fibre cement is water resistant, this means the acoustic flooring board can also be used in a wide range of applications including: wet rooms, kitchens, outdoor tiled areas, flat rooms, balconies, garden rooms and many more.

The high thermal conductivity of the cement fibre board allows the cement fibre to absorb and release heat much more efficiently than chipboard, therefore enhancing the performance of you underfloor heating.

Further reductions in both impact and airborne sound transmission can be gained by using a suitable MuteMat underlay on top of the STS TG4 acoustic flooring board. The performance can even be further increased with the addition of Tecsound, which will help to further reduce sound and vibration for areas requiring higher levels of performance.

Waterproof construction board

Water Resistant acoustic flooring board

Ideal for use in bathrooms and areas that may get wet. STS construction board will not rot or delaminate under damp conditions.

Fire rated

Fire resistant construction board

STS construction board has a Euroclass A1 fire rating.

Construction board acoustic underlay

Prevents Flex

Some Soundproof underlays like MuteMat 3 have foam that can be compressed as this helps prevent impact noise. With tiles and LVT this compression can cause issues. Construction board prevents this and adds acoustic protection.

Underfloor heating

High thermal conductivity

STS TG4 board has a the ability to conduct heat much more efficiently than chipboard, therefore enhancing the performance of you underfloor heating.

The STS TG4 acoustic flooring board are a direct replacement for conventional structural floor boarding products and materials. The installation of the boards are very similar to a typical tongue and groove flooring installation with a few changes to tools and adhesives, more details can be found below:

Step 1Step 2Step 3Step 4
Cut boards to size Cut STS Construction board TG4 using a circular saw fixed with a vacuum extractor and an STS PCD Saw Blade. This method will cut boards easily and mitigate dust. Boards are fixed with board text facing up.Stick boards to joists STS Construction board TG4 can be fixed to timber or steel joists installed at maximum 600mm centres. To achieve an acceptable finish, it is important that floor joists are level. Apply a bead of STS Mega Strength PU Adhesive to the joist, then position the first board.Secure with screws Secure with 12 x 50mm STS Fibre Cement Board Screws, placed a minimum of 12mm from the square edge and 5mm from the side of the joist. Ensure screws are placed a minimum distance of 25mm from the tongue and groove edge.Apply adhesive to groove Lay in a brick bond pattern. Tongue and groove joins do not need to end on a joist but all square edges should be fully supported. Secure subsequent boards by applying Mega Strength PU Adhesive along the length of the board’s groove, before inserting the tongue of the next board. Ready to tile or install other surface finish immediately.

For further reductions in sound the STS TG4 boards can also be installed in a floating floor system.

Storage

Boards should be stored and handled in a manner to prevent deterioration and damage. The product should be protected from atmospheric actions, excessive humidity and temperature changes, such as rain, sun, winds and moisture. STS TG4 boards must always be stored flat. If boards are stored outside they must always be fully covered with a waterproof tarpaulin.

Acclimatisation

STS Construction Board TG4 must be protected from moisture and weather prior to installation. Although they will not deteriorate after installation even if subject to adverse weather conditions, it is recommended that if this is likely to happen a coat of waterproof primer, such as SBR, will reduce moisture ingress. Before the final finish is laid, boards should be thoroughly cleaned and allowed to acclimatise to the final ambient temperature and moisture conditions of the building. If piped under floor heating is installed this can be turned on to assist with acclimatisation.
