A simple, effective and durable under screed underlay specialised for reducing impact noise in concrete structures.
MuteMat™ USP 650-03 is our thin and high performing acoustic under screed resilient layer for reducing impact noise between the floating concrete screed and structural concrete slab layers - as a dense and robust product it maintains a low level of compressibility, so even when it is subjected to high points loads - it maintains it's acoustic performance, thus making it suitable for residential and commercial use without increasing floor heights drastically. If you are looking for a general acoustic over screeding product, view our MuteMat™ OSF-750 05 and MuteMat™ OSF 750-10 and for increased impact reduction in under screed applications our MuteMat™ USP 750-08.

We are always looking for the best ways to describe to you the world of soundproofing through introducing guides that range from the basic principles of sound, how to best soundproof surfaces and what to look for, and how to understand acoustic test data, and this is only naming a few! We want to help you come to the right decision, so whether this is through the use of our guides or talking to a member of our team - we are here to help!
A combination of the following will always result in a much improved acoustic performance.
MuteMat® USF 650-03, although a flat under screed material still provides damping and separation, both very important in concrete structures for the minimising of impact noise. The mass is often sufficient in the concrete slab itself but is improved further with the separation of the screed layers mass applied on top. For projects that are expecting greater or excessive noise issues, combined with our MuteClip® systems on both walls and ceilings.
In under screed projects, there are a few options available, and each looks to separate the structural concrete slab from the surrounding surfaces and to float the new screed. Screed is the 'wet' levelling finish either applied directly to a concrete slab, which is often a 'rough' aggregate finish that is uneven or to composite floor build ups, for instance, on top of an acoustic layer. Before applying liquid or flow screeds, each room must use a Perimeter Flanking Band around the perimeter so that your soundproof under screed, screed and your chosen floor finishes can butt up against it. This Flanking Band is to minimise contact with the walls, because of the screed finish is touching it is going to reduce the floors flexibility to deal with impact noise or vibration and transfer through this path through Flanking Transmission, all floor layers need isolation. Then, depending on what your project requires, an acoustic under screed is installed, and you will find this type of soundproofing in a lot of new builds, including residential complexes and in areas containing large machinery or gymnasiums.
Ready to see how MuteMat® USP 650-03 benefits your project? Select our 'Systems' tab and then on any system to learn more about each one. You will discover their acoustic performances, overall system thickness and in what scenarios they are best used. You can then add all featured components to the cart in a press of a button!

In concrete constructions there will be a structural concrete slab which is constructed of sharp, uneven aggregates that leaves a rough finish, and a screed layer that is applied over the top for levelling out the structural concrete to leave a smoother finish. In most cases, and especially in large residential structures, before the screeding stage most will allow for a specification of under screed sound proofing materials to assist in floating away the screed from the structural concrete - helping to sound insulate the floor against impact noise.
As the MuteMat® USF 650-03 has a lesser density than our over screed options - which is used to alleviate impact noise issues in screeding applications, it is not the best option to use as an overscreed as it cannot receive hard floor finishes directly because of it's compressible properties.
We would recommend looking at our MuteMat® OSF range for suitable options for over screed floor sound proofing.
Mute Mat™ USF 650-03 requires no adhesive, it is simple rolled out and taped - overlaid with DPM if required, and ready for a screed layer.
This will often be for the specifier to decide on whether it is required or not.

MuteMat® USF 650-03 is best cut with a fresh Stanley blade and a straight edge or metal ruler, always cut away from your body and behind the straight edge.
