This system focuses on replacing existing floorboarding with our MuteDeck™ and using Tecsound to provide an easy to install material to dampen light vibration. Ideal for tightly spaces floors.
The MuteDeck™ Plus system is an ideal solution for those looking to replace their subfloor with a floor soundproofing option, but cannot lose a great deal of space beyond this. This system improves airborne noise while helping to decrease the presence of light vibration and light foot traffic from above. This system combines both MuteDeck™ 18mm, a cement particle board, mostly a dense mix of concrete and chipboard provides a rigid and heavy board to create a barrier against airborne noise, and Tecsound, a visco-elastic material that reduces vibration and breaks down sound energy by turning it into heat. The full system includes the use of Acoustic Mineral Wool between the joists, at no less than 45kg per m3, and use of Isolation Strips to provide a floating floor function. It is these properties in this system that make it ideal for reducing the light conversation, background levels of footsteps and even the dragging of furniture. Although these are noise issues commonly associated with what you find at home, especially in dense-living, multiple dwellings, these disturbances are similar to those you hear in the workplace, and this system is for both homes and workplaces.

MuteDeck™ Plus helps to replace a current floor boarding with a much denser, higher mass product as MuteDeck™ 18mm, suited for floor spans no more than 400mm in joist centres - to vastly improve airborne and reduce gaps by having a tongue and groove finish. Tecsound is a vibration damping membrane that helps to improve airborne performance also by having a high mass per m2. So depending on your current floor boarding, you may only see a rise of 4-8mm in total.
Depending on what is currently in place, this system is designed to be as slim line as possible - so we look to improve on background noise levels of conversation and television for example by reducing them further, but for intrusive noise issues something more substantial would need to be in place. Impact and vibration will be reduced a little less so, intrusive noise issues regarding impact would need to implement something more compressible like our MuteMat® 2 or MuteMat® 3.
With limitations on floor height, especially if you are looking to lay a hardened flooring, MuteDeck™ Plus would work perfectly for a further reduction of airborne noise and impact noise whilst allowing hard floor finishes to be applied direct.
MuteDeck™ is a cement impregnated chipboard to which helps vastly improve the mass per square meter which is important for the reduction of airborne noise. It’s mass is much high in comparison to chipboard and ply, both often used as a sub floor construction on joists.
Yes it will, MuteDeck™ is not flexible and any major deviations in the joist could cause cracking over time - opening gaps for airborne sound to travel through and making the floor potentially unstable.
