MuteCradleâ„¢ 45/60mm

MuteCradleâ„¢ 45/60mm is our dual height acoustic cradle system that offers a soundproof floating floor system that isolates away from concrete and timber floors, effective for the reduction of both impact and airborne sound. MuteCradleâ„¢ also allows you to produce a flat floor without the use of screed. A screed layer can often be an impractical solution due to the long lead times, the use of sizeable machinery and the cure times. Our MuteCradleâ„¢ Packers come in a range of sizes to help in fine-tuning any unevenness in the concrete floor.

MuteCradle floating floor system

MuteCradleâ„¢ is designed for soundproofing concrete floors, but will also help in timber constructions – it’s acoustic performance is greater in concrete because the padding is a dense rubber matting to ensure that the new floating floor remains stable and level, this dense pad means that it’s performance can often be less effective in timber builds. Acoustic cradles provide separation and minimal points of contact with the substrate which is effective against impact noise issues.

Each cradle houses the timber stud framing to create an effective air gap to accommodate sound insulating acoustic mineral wool between them to reduce airborne noise issues by decoupling from the structural floor and treating the cavity, performance can be improved further by installing additional dense acoustic floor boardings such as our acoustic underlays such as MuteMat® 2 or MuteMat® 3.

MuteCradleâ„¢ has been used to soundproof audio control rooms, recording studios and specified for use in cinema rooms to help float the floor away from the substrate, this is often where the sub-woofer would transfer low frequencies in to the main structure and cause them to bypass any wall soundproofing systems that are in place, this can present real difficulties when trying to resolve in retrospect, we would look to specify them in the beginning of such projects. It is also a popular option for soundproofing large sports halls as well as other uses where services may need to be run underneath the flooring.

When it comes to soundproofing a home, especially in large residential constructions, they will often greatly benefit from the introduction of acoustic cradles, especially in concrete structures to where maximum protection against impact noise is required for sound will often flank and travel great distances – they are also a good option to for when the floor contains dips, troughs and stepped levelling in areas where applying screed is difficult or costly.

MuteCradleâ„¢ can be alternated to assist differences in floor levels, if there are small steps these can be installed without any additional work to the structure. You will also find fine-tuning packers here to even out small fluctuations found in concrete builds.

They are designed to be used with each other for levelling floors that are within these ranges – the fitting of stud framing is the same for each.

The 45/60mm option creates a larger air gap, which can accommodate more servicing if required, which with office soundproofing this is usually important when running servers and cabling over vast areas – making the organisation of cabling simpler, safer and certainly more aesthetically pleasing.

Important Information

Our products contain a high level of mass. If there are any structural concerns you will want to consult a Structural Engineer to discuss your requirements.

*Our Typical Performance Results and Noise Reduction Guidance are provided to indicate the results that have been achieved in previous tests but are not guaranteed to a specific site as multiple factors can affect this, you can view their variants on our ‘Featured Systems’ tab.
