What is wall soundproofing?
Wall soundproofing is used to block noise transferring from one side to another. It can be used to block noisy neighbours, and traffic noise and to prevent sound escaping your room, such as a music studio. Wall soundproofing prevents sound from entering or escaping and typically uses materials of high mass, a decoupling device and absorption in open cavity spaces.

No.1 Best Wall Soundproofing Pick
MuteClip Gold
Our top pick for the best wall soundproofing is the best solution for noisy neighbours all the way to professional music studios.
The Gold Wall Soundproofing system offers a high sound reduction performance because it uses a MuteClip frame alongside three layers of high mass and gets our choice for the best wall soundproofing system The system can be used on brick and stud walls by easily screwing the MuteClips into the structure.
This system differs from the silver system because it uses higher quality materials for an extra 1dB reduction. At this high level of sound reduction, an extra 1dB is a significant improvement!
The higher grade materials also make installation easier, which is a benefit for anyone wanting to take on wall soundproofing as a DIY job. However, this system does have a footprint of 74mm. This is the thickest system width (alongside the silver system) but offers a superior sound reduction to the slimmer Bronze system.

2nd Place Wall Soundproofing Pick
MuteClip Silver
Our second best wall soundproofing pick goes to the MuteClip silver because it has a great performance but is cheaper that the gold system.
The silver wall soundproofing system is similar to the gold system, however, the visco-elastic membrane is a slightly lower grade. This difference makes three important distinctions between the two systems. The benefit is that this system is cheaper by ยฃ2 per m2 which adds up quickly around a room.
However, this system will reduce 1dB less noise. To a human ear, this may not be easily perceivable, however, sound is very subjective. If you have a very severe noise issue the gold system would be a better choice.
The slightly lower grade of material also means that it is less flexible. While this isnโt an issue, it will make installation a little trickier. Having said that, we like this system for the high sound reduction it offers at a slightly reduced cost.

3rd Best Wall Soundproofing of 2024
MuteClip Bronze
We didn’t want to forget people with small budgets or small spaces. So the MuteClip Bronze takes third place in this line up.
The Bronze system is quite different from the two previous wall soundproofing options. The benefits of this system are that it is suitable for a different person and budget all together. This system is the cheapest and very budget friendly as a wall soundproofing system.
However, it does reduce less noise than the previous two options. This means itโs less suitable for high levels of domestic noise from noisy neighbours or a music practice room. Instead, this system is the best wall soundproofing for people who can hear some noise from next door, or, struggle with thin internal walls but have a small budget or space.
For the price, this system still offers a strong sound reduction when compared to other systems on the market in this budget. To give you a better idea of a 14dB reduction, hereโs a video for you. For context, the human ear perceives a 10dB reduction as a halving of the original noise.
Lastly, for this system, it has a much smaller footprint. A system width of 60mm makes this an option for people with windows or door frames close to their walls. The reduction in width is because it only uses one layer of high mass. However, we have made sure to include the MuteClip and Channel system, which will give you the best sound proofing.

ReductoClip Direct to Wall
Like our top pick for 2024, this system also offers 19dB of sound reduction. However, the cost is higher and installation a little more involved.
What we like most
System draw backs
The ReductoClip Direct to Wall system is much like out top pick in the system composition. The biggest difference, as you might be able to tell from the name, is the isolation clip. The ReductoClip uses a dual point fixing, (there are a few on the market), whereas, ours is a single point fixing. Both clips offer a high performance and great sound reduction but differ on price, width and installation.
While we like this system for the 19dB reduction, (just like our MuteClip Gold), it costs ยฃ5 per m2 more. Over the course of a room, this is a significant price increase for no extra sound benefit. Like our MuteClip system, this is a robust wall soundproofing solution that is suitable for issues like noisy neighbours.

Resilient Bars with Battens
No best wall soundproofing review would be complete without resilient bars! Arguably the original isolation systems, these have been around for a while and deserve a mention.
What we like most
System draw backs
Resilient bars work a little differently to the MuteClips and ReductoClips. These don’t include vibration resistant materials like our dual density silicone. Instead, the system is a single piece of metal that has a degree of flexibility to absorb vibrations.
While these can be effective, the installation is easy to get incorrect. This leads to the whole system failing as it either touches the floor, or, supporting screws go in too far and make contact with the supporting wall. This voids the official Part E document guidelines and will cause the system to fail.
This is why we developed the MuteClip, which is easy to install without error and provides excellent results. Resilient bars are often installed onto wood battens, so this system also takes up a significant amount of space.
