Acoustic Batten Strip is excellent at reducing impact sound between existing and new floor installations. With a self adhesive backing the product can simply be cut and applied to the bottom of any batten to create a de-coupled floating floor above the existing sub structure. The product when installed with flanking treatment can provide up to a 26dB reduction in impact sound on a typical concrete floor.
Acoustic Batten Strip is the ideal product for reducing impact sound and vibrations such as footsteps, machinery and appliances. Acoustic Batten strip will not falter under weights found in typical applications in households and commercial properties, but with anything uncommon, then do let us know. How to soundproof floors
A combination of the following will always result in a much improved acoustic performance.
- Mass: the addition of more substantial materials to reduce sound energy, for example, added layers combined with soundproof plasterboard.
- Separation: breaking contact with the surface or surfaces through the use of acoustic isolation clips or stud framing.
- Damping: the reduction of vibration through the use of flexible, damping materials such as Tecsound.
Acoustic Batten Strips offer flexibility and compressibility to what would be a rigid flooring construction. By merely placing battens on the floor, you are creating an air gap between the sub-floor and your new floating floor, which is very good. But, in concrete structures especially, there needs to be decoupling, and this is the separation mentioned above, breaking the contact between the bottom of the batten and the floor is vital. Adding this in will help to improve its performance against impact noise and structural-borne vibration.

- Make sure to peel the paper covering off to expose the self-adhesive face, be careful not to pull off this self-adhesive in the process
- Acoustic Batten Strip must be installed on to a clean surface, one that is debris and oil free to remain in place.
With it’s self-adhesive backing it is applied to each timber batten, you simply peel the paper covering off and stick it to the timber. Make sure it is as dust free as possible to ensure that the adhesive gets a firm grip.
Acoustic Batten Strip provides a dense, rubber resilient layer to the bottom that helps to reduce impact noise transferring in to the floor. It is to be used instead of using an entire roll in which a large percentage would be not be in use.
