AcousticWafer® wall soundproofing board

AcousticWafer® is a sustainable, UK-made soundproofing solution with great thermal insulation and lightweight design, developed through collaboration with eco-conscious companies and academic institutions.

We specify AcousticWafer® as part of a system. This environmentally friendly board replaces half of the plasterboard in the system and the viscoelastic membrane often used in our systems. This delivers very similar performance in a slimmer package at a similar price point. AcousticWafer® represents the journey we are taking to minimise our acoustic systems environmental impact.

100% recycled materials

AcousticWafer® W wallboard is manufactured with waste paper products and even used nappies (don’t worry, they’ve been cleaned!). The AcousticWafer® is 100% recyclable when you’re done.

eco friendly Thermal insulation

Great thermal insulation

AcousticWafer® Wall has a thermal conductivity of 0.102 W/mK. This is over two and a half times more effective than plasterboard of the same thickness.

Lightweight acoustic underlay

Lightweight

A single board of AcousticWafer® weighs just 8.4kg. This is over 20kg lighter than the viscoelastic membrane and plasterboard it is able to replace!

UK sustainable products

Made in Britain

We’re proud to work with British manufactures Sundeala and NappiCycle to produce a recycled paperboard tuned to iKoustics unique specifications.

The specific process is a closely guarded secret! However, we can tell you that recycled paper fibres are bound using bio-engineering technology, heat and pressure resulting in a dense, firm board. Unlike many fiberboards, there are no glues, resins, VOCs or formaldehyde used in the manufacture of AcousticWafer.

Our partners at Sundeala supported us in the development of a specific acoustic board with a view to replacing other soundproofing materials with a more sustainable option.

AcousticWafer Wall covered with a layer of acoustic plasterboard can deliver a similar acoustic performance as two layers of acoustic plasterboard and a layer of viscoelastic membrane. This not only improves the environmental impact of the system but also makes for a slimmer, easier install and lighter-weight solution at a cheaper price point!

AcousticWafer W has been engineered to be part of a system, meaning that when covered with plasterboard it is possible to use this product on any wall.

Install in the same way you would install a sheet of acoustic plasterboard – use mechanical fixings. This can either be direct to wall or screwed into the channel of a MuteClip system. The AcousticWafer W will be the inner lining of a system, with acoustic plasterboard as the layer facing into a room. Ensure any gaps are filled with acoustic sealant, and offsetting the AcousticWafer W from the acoustic plasterboard will ensure an airtight end result.

No, use mechanical fixings such as dry wall screws.
