Our Isolation Strip P8 is an important component in the majority of timber flooring constructions, and in the building of stud-frames to assist in decoupling the structure, an essential property of reducing structural-borne vibration and low-frequency noise through suspending the mass away.

Isolation Strip P8 is a rubber-crumb, self-adhesive strip, and it is this rubber crumb material combined with its varying heights between 4-8mm that makes it a little more compressible, helps to reduce points of contact and spreads the load when a force from footsteps or pressure from furniture over a particular area is applied. This results in an enhanced treatment of impact transmission over flat isolation strips. Isolation Strip P8 will not falter under typical weights that are common in households and commercial properties, but with significant weights that are not usually expected, then do let us know so can we advise you.  We would like to make sure that what you are selecting is correct, and will help you reach your soundproofing goals. You will see that Isolation Strip P8 features in many of our acoustic systems, you can learn more by selecting to 'Systems' tab above.

We are always looking for the best ways to describe to you the world of soundproofing through introducing guides that range from the basic principles of sound, how to best soundproof surfaces and what to look for, and how to understand acoustic test data, and this is only naming a few! We want to help you come to the right decision, so whether this is through the use of our guides or talking to a member of our team - we are here to help!

How to soundproof floors, walls and ceilings.

A combination of the following will always result in a much improved acoustic performance.

  • Mass: the addition of more substantial materials to reduce sound energy, for example, added layers combined with soundproof plasterboard.
  • Separation: breaking contact with the surface or surfaces through the use of acoustic isolation clips or stud framing.
  • Damping: the reduction of vibration through the use of flexible, damping materials such as Tecsound.

Isolation Strip P8 is an important addition for any installation of stud framing to which will come into contact with floors, walls or ceiling. Decoupling or separating these surfaces will reduce the amount of Flanking Transmission transferring into the stud frame, and will help to boost impact reduction on floors by applying directly to joists. We use Isolation Strips in all of our timber flooring systems when the existing floor can be removed and in our 'Stud' wall or floor systems.

We understand that it is not always possible to factor in the significant loss of space that the introduction of isolated stud frames or the use of acoustic cradles, so we provide different variances to suit what performance you need, your budget and thickness.

  • Make sure to peel the paper covering off to expose the self-adhesive face, be careful not to pull off this self-adhesive in the process

  • Isolation Strip P8 must be installed on to a clean surface, one that is debris and oil free to remain in place.

  • Install pimple side facing upwards
