Isolation Clips

Isolation clips work to decouple an existing structure with a new independent wall whilst providing a secure connection point. ikoustics patented MuteClip design offers a lightweight single connection point with dual density silicone impedance. This helps to reduce a range of frequencies transferring between the old structure and the new.

Isolation Clips FAQ

Yes, soundproofing clips (or isolation clips) are the most efficient systems on the market. All sound is a form of vibration so effective soundproofing requires efficient decoupling of mass, all this really means is creating a barrier between two heavy things, like a wall and acoustic plasterboard. Soundproofing clips do just this by decoupling your rigid materials without building a completely independent frame.

Isolation Clips are like mini shock absorbers used to reduce sound vibration transferring between two structures like a brick wall and acoustic plasterboard. Isolation clips feature a fixing point (to connect to the existing structure) that is shielded by dual-density silicone to help absorb the transfer of various frequencies of vibration. Metal channels are then connected to these clips to create a decoupled structure that plasterboard and other materials can be attached to.

Isolation clips just need a single screw fixing directly through the clip into a timber joist or masonry wall. After fitting an array of clips metal channels can then be fitted to them ready for plasterboard and other materials. There are some more advanced things to consider so we recommend you read our installation guides and watch your installation videos.

Isolation Clips are one of the most efficient soundproofing systems available, far more effective than attaching resilient bars direct to a wall without a clip. Isolation clips unlike resilient bars are able to be attached directly to masonry walls.

MuteClip is a standard system that can be quickly installed on walls or the bottom of joists.MuteClip LP (low profile) attaches to the side of ceiling joists and helps minimize the height loss as much as possible. Mute Clip XP (extended partition) actually extends off of existing ceiling joists allowing users to lower their ceiling to install servicing like ducting or if the joists are uneven they can be corrected by the MuteClip XP. MuteClip MP (multi-purpose) can be used with standard metal frame systems or to attach timber frames to a brick wall

Yes, clip and channel is a more advanced system. imagine if you hit a metal bar with a hammer, the vibration will travel all through the metal bar. Isolation clips come in as a way to reduce the vibration that is able to transfer to the bar in the first place.
