MuteClip® Isolation Clips

Our MuteClip® isolation clip systems deliver the highest standard of soundproofing we offer. Isolation clips and channels are used to build a ‘de-coupled’ frame for wall and ceiling soundproofing. Plasterboard or other soundproofing materials can be installed onto this ‘de-coupled’ frame.

The MuteClip® is backed with dual-density silicone. This acts as a shock absorber surrounding the fixing and buffering the metal clip. The MuteClip Channel is then ‘clicked’ into the MuteClip® providing a slimline and ‘de-coupled’ frame for plasterboards to be attached to.

All of this works to reduce the sound vibrations able to transfer through your wall or ceiling and into your space.

How to soundproof a wall with isolation clips

How MuteClips soundproof a wall

MuteClips soundproof a wall by providing excellent isolation between the existing wall and the new soundproofing boards. This decoupled soundproofing wall creates a fantastic barrier to noise.

The MuteClip system is the best way to block noise from your neighbours and properly insulate your home against sound.

Partition Measurements

Wall Isolation Clip Calculator
Ceiling Isolation Clip Calculator
Wall Stud Center

The wall stud center is the distance between stud uprights. The typical stud upright is 600mm. If you are working directly on a brick wall we recommend using a 600mm spacing here also.

Wall Channel Center

The wall channel center is the distance between the horizontal MuteClip Channels. The typical channel center is 600mm. If you are working directly on a brick wall we recommend using a 600mm spacing here also.

Ceiling Joist Center

The ceiling joist center is the distance between ceiling joists measured from the center. The typical ceiling joist is 400mm. If you are working directly on a concrete ceiling we recommend using a 400mm spacing here also.

Ceiling Channel Center

The ceiling channel center is the distance between the MuteClip Channels. The typical channel center is 400mm. If you are working directly on a concrete ceiling we recommend using a 400mm spacing here also.

  • If you have multiple adjacent surfaces or partitions to soundproof input them individually. Not as a total m2 input as this will affect the results.
  • If you have windows, fireplaces or other fixed structures we recommend booking a call with us before purchasing.
Ceiling soundproofing calculator
Ceiling ‘Width’

For the calculator the width of a ceiling is the measurement that runs perpendicular with your existing ceiling joists.

Ceiling ‘Height’

For the purposes of this calculator height refers to the measurement that runs parallel with your existing ceiling joists.

Dual Denisty sound reduction

Dual Density Silicone

Silicone acts as a buffer between the screw fixing and the Clip and Channel. We incorporate two different density’s into our design that perform better at different frequencies. Giving you the best of both worlds!

Clip and channel vs stud frame

Thinner than a stud frame

The completed clip and channel system has a width of just 40mm. When finished with a single layer of acoustic plasterboard and acoustic mineral wool on masonry wall that’s just 55mm for a 54dB* Noise reduction. A huge difference in sound!

Soundproofing substrates

Apply to multiple substrates

MuteClip® products can be installed on wooden joists, concrete wall and ceilings brick walls and even metal frames.

Bass speakers

Effective against high and low frequencies

MuteClip® systems perform well against high frequencies and the more challenging low bass frequencies.

MuteClip Ceiling soundproofing

Use as part of a soundproofing system

The total thickness is 40mm combined.

Our MuteClip® is designed to be installed in almost any internal application to soundproof walls and ceilings, used to soundproof existing stud partitions or in brick and block constructions against noisy neighbours, against disruptive noise in the workplace and can also be installed as a highly effective soundproofing solution for home cinemas, recording studios and other audio-focused environments where levels of noise can be found in excess of ordinary household disturbances.

It is an affordable option for large residential or commercial projects that opt for or require a robust acoustic solution in which developers wish to exceed standard building regulations that lead to the increased comfort of living or workspace environment.

Yes it can, with existing stud partitions you will likely find a lightweight material, often a pink-fluffy heat insulation material, between the stud framing with perhaps only a standard plasterboard applied to each side, which is why you may be hearing excessive noise – these can also be found not only in internal dwellings of your own home or property but also in neighbouring houses that were constructed before the introduction of Building Regulations in 2003, this can be intrusive and disruptive to living spaces. Without a brick or block wall creating the initial high mass, which is vital for soundproofing against airborne noise issues, conversation and television, for example, our MuteClip® offers high acoustic performance in these cases.

16kg per MuteClip® is the maximum load that can be applied to each clip; our team can help to advise you on the weights on a square meter basis which takes into account all elements of each system. We aim to be no more than 75% capacity of the clip as hitting the maximum reduces the suspension of the MuteClip®, this is true for all other acoustic clips too, reducing its soundproofing effectiveness.

It all depends on which of our systems MuteClip® is incorporated into and what is currently in place, for example, a concrete or brick wall will offer solid support for soundproofing whereas breezeblock is often very porous, meaning that it allows an increased degree of airflow through, allowing the property to breathe. Stud framing offers the least soundproofing but creates an air gap which works in favour of each soundproof system and would require Acoustic Mineral Wool to be put in place to offer this improvement. We provide estimations of performance in our acoustic results, but it is important to note that every property will behave differently – we are always updating our acoustic results where possible.

We offer a range of trade discounts that are dependent on the frequency and or value of orders alongside our service and guidance for each and every project. We ask that a few orders are placed prior if you have placed orders with us or have a few projects looking to specify MuteClip®, do get in contact with us to see how we can help you best.
