Floor Soundproofing

MuteMat® USP 625-17

Take a look at the system’s features and benefits.

28 dB ΔLw Impact Reduction*

Noises like footsteps on wood flooring and washing machines.

17 mm additional System Height

The height added to your floor after the system is installed.

We stand for quality, and we are proud of it.

Our best performing pimpled concrete under screed for best protection against impact and vibration by floating the screed finish. For noise-sensitive areas including industrial and gym use.

MuteMat® USP 625-17 is our most robust and most effective pimpled acoustic under screed for soundproofing concrete flooring between the structural concrete slab and floating screed. Its high recycled content helps to reduce the carbon footprint while still retaining a consistent density, this assures that our material’s acoustic performance and its longevity are upheld without fluctuation or fault.

Advice and installation

Our team are always a phone call away ready to offer advice and support. Our systems can be installed by competent DIYers but if you would like to work with an installer we have relationships with installers up and down the UK that we can put you in touch with.

  • Easy to install, roll out and tape joins.
  • Increases floor height by 17mm
  • A moisture-resistant sheeting may be required during installation.
  • 28dB* for impact reduction
  • Compliant with both Part E Building Regulations (England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland) and Building Standards Technical Handbook 2017 for Scotland for impact transmission.

A soundproofing system isn’t rocket science but sometimes figuring out which one is right for you can be challenging. Check out our FAQs, get in touch via our live chat, or give us a call to speak to a human.

As our most healthy option of the MuteMat® USP range, its design follows the same trends of using a deviated pimpled structure to limit direct contact from the floating screed above to the structural concrete. What this means is that the impact transmission and structural borne vibration found in a range of applications is reduced by a substantial amount, and from this separation comes the addition of reducing airborne noise transmission, especially in the problematic low frequencies. MuteMat® USP 750-10 is ∆Lw = 28dB, and this will vary depending on your structural concrete and your screed finish. Both MuteMat® and screed will require abutting to the perimeter edging strip detail on each edge of the room to prevent direct contact with the walls and the causation of Flanking Transmission.

Manufacturing and engineering environments, as well as testing facilities to where all harbour forms of sizeable mechanical equipment which can generate excessive noise, mainly low-frequency sound energy – would become problematic for not only for noise sensitive structures adjacent in the immediate area, but also those from some distance or internal noise issues where control of sound is required to safe levels. It is vital in these environments to create suspension, and lesser points of contact with the shell of the structure for structural borne vibration can travel great distances. As a soundproof under screed, MuteMat® USP 600-17 is perfect for this application due to its robust nature and suspension, and it’s the ability to withstand high point loads. We can help review your plans of structure and the potential noise sensitive environments in the vicinity by carrying out a Noise Impact Assessment.

Areas of gyms that create the most impact is of course where weight lifting and weight machines are concerned, and when looking for an acoustic under screed you will need something that could alleviate these issues from becoming structural borne vibration and interfering with adjacent residential and commercial properties, as well as internal rooms that are noise sensitive. Most multipurpose dwellings to wear gyms are situated often require a screeding, so during this process, it would be wise to implement MuteMat® USP 600-17 to separate this. Depending on the gym location and the noise sensitive areas and developments – these would most often be specified alongside gym floor coverings like those available with our MuteGym™ range. We can help review your plans of structure and the potential noise sensitive environments in the vicinity by carrying out a Noise Impact Assessment.

We currently do not have details for the compatibility with underfloor heating systems, but we will look to test these soon – all our data is readily available on the product data sheet found in Related PDFs.

Retrospective fitting is just as straightforward as a new build as long as you have discussed your requirements with a local screed team or structural engineer, to make sure the build can support the additional weight. – It is simply laid and taped, with MuteMat® USP 600-17 and the new Floating Screed abutted to a perimeter edging strip around each room to prevent Flanking Transmission.
