Floor Soundproofing

MuteMat OSF 10

Take a look at the system’s features and benefits.

23 dB ΔLw Impact Reduction*

Noises like footsteps on wood flooring and washing machines.

10 mm additional System Height

The height added to your floor after the system is installed.

We stand for quality, and we are proud of it.

Our most robust concrete over screed for addressing impact noise. This is an upgrade from our 5mm solution and is easy to install across various floor finishes with 94% recycled material..

MuteMat® OSF 750-10 is our best performing and most robust resilient acoustic underlay of our MuteMat® OSF range for soundproofing concrete flooring against intrusive impact noises. It’s highly recycled content helps to reduce the carbon footprint while still retaining a consistent density, this assures that our material’s acoustic performance and it’s longevity is upheld without fluctuation or fault.

Advice and installation

Our team are always a phone call away ready to offer advice and support. Our systems can be installed by competent DIYers but if you would like to work with an installer we have relationships with installers up and down the UK that we can put you in touch with.

  • Easy to install, roll out and tape joins (an adhesive may be required, please see below under installation).
  • System thickness from the existing floor 10mm
  • 23dB ΔLw for impact reduction
  • Compliant with both Part E Building Regulations (England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland) and Building Standards Technical Handbook 2017 for Scotland for impact transmission.

Frequently
Asked
Questions

A soundproofing system isn’t rocket science but sometimes figuring out which one is right for you can be challenging. Check out our FAQs, get in touch via our live chat, or give us a call to speak to a human.

One of the most common issues between neighbours is from to disturbance through the noise, and this can often lead to a tense environment and something that is only solved by having the right soundproofing in place, and with cooperation where possible on the outcome. To where impact noise is the primary concern, our MuteMat® OSF 750-10 offers a substantial reduction of noise in slim-line solution, offering approximately ∆Lw 23dB reduction taken from a 140mm concrete floor slab, this is over a 75% reduction of noise issues for impact noise.

Acoustic tests made on a 140mm concrete slab yield a reduction figure of ∆Lw 23dB, which for the majority of cases would yield the acoustic performance required across the board for both conversions and new builds regarding impact sound insulation. If you are looking to specify for an existing concrete structure, we would recommend carrying out an acoustic test before gather results of both airborne and impact performance to see what requires achieving. With specifications that require planning approval for a structure has not been built, we can create digital representations of acoustic partitions to see what guide of results you would expect in block and beam, pre-cast and cast in-situ concrete builds.

It would often be accompanied with our MuteClip® soundproof ceiling systems to increase performance for airborne noise and any impact noise issues that are found to be high, and for reducing structural vibration being located at the ceiling level.

We would recommend carrying out the same processes as above due to the acoustic requirements set out by the Scottish Building Regulations being much higher for both airborne and impact in new builds and conversions. It would most likely be required to implement a soundproof ceiling below to meet both the impact and airborne reduction values.

Far larger machinery that requires fixing into the flooring, the MuteMat® OSF 750-10 would not fair well as there would be multiple points of contact made to where vibration will travel. Lighter weight machinery and other equipment that can be set on top of MuteMat® OSF 750-10 would fair better in mitigating structural borne vibration.

If the structure and its plant machinery are yet to be installed – you would be best to look at using a floating screed construction with our MuteMat® USP range to gain the best separation possible.

If the room you are looking to build or convert shares a concrete foundation or is in proximity to other structures – MuteMat® OSF 750-10 would be a great addition to reduce impact noise from instrumentation and helping to decouple amplifiers and subwoofers from creating structural borne vibration – without any floor soundproofing you run the risk of these issues running under the wall soundproofing. When soundproofing cinema rooms or audio studios from above, it would be best to couple with a ceiling system underneath to best mitigate noise issues – airborne noise may not be sufficiently reduced with the concrete’s mass alone.

You can find all of our current information on this acoustic overscreed and its compatibility from the results below with use in conjunction with underfloor heating systems

Thermal Conductivity = 0.113 W/mK

Thermal Resistance = 0.094 m²K/W

Temperature Stability = -35°c to +100°c.

With a 10mm increase, it may not require any alterations around the perimeter of the room, but depending on new floor layers some skirting may require moving and doors trimmed to a more suitable height. But, it certainly can be installed retrospectively and is an excellent option for anyone looking to install new hard floor finishes to replace a carpet perhaps.

Important Information

Our products contain a high level of mass. If there are any structural concerns you will want to consult a Structural Engineer to discuss your requirements.

*Our Typical Performance Results and Noise Reduction Guidance are provided to indicate the results that have been achieved in previous tests but are not guaranteed to a specific site as multiple factors can affect this, you can view their variants on our ‘Featured Systems’ tab.
