Floor Soundproofing

MuteMat OSF 03

Take a look at the system’s features and benefits.

19dB ΔLw Impact Reduction*

Noises like footsteps on wood flooring and washing machines.

3 mm additional System Height

The height added to your floor after the system is installed.

We stand for quality, and we are proud of it.

As a concrete over screed, this is our thinnest system available for treating impact noise. It is straightforward to install, cost-effective and made of recycled rubber of up to 94%.

MuteMat OSF® 750-03 is our highly effective and ultra-slim resilient acoustic underlay for soundproofing concrete flooring against intrusive impact noises. Its high recycled content helps to reduce the carbon footprint while still retaining a consistent density, this assures that our material’s acoustic performance and its longevity is upheld without fluctuation or fault.

Advice and installation

Our team are always a phone call away ready to offer advice and support. Our systems can be installed by competent DIYers but if you would like to work with an installer we have relationships with installers up and down the UK that we can put you in touch with.

  • Easy to install, roll out and tape joins (an adhesive may be required, please see below under installation)
  • System thickness from the existing floor 3mm
  • 19dB*(ΔLw) for impact reduction
  • Compliant with both Part E Building Regulations (England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland) and Building Standards Technical Handbook 2017 for Scotland for impact transmission.

Frequently
Asked
Questions

A soundproofing system isn’t rocket science but sometimes figuring out which one is right for you can be challenging. Check out our FAQs, get in touch via our live chat, or give us a call to speak to a human.

Noisy neighbour scenarios often create tension and on the rare but not unheard of occasion, conflicts. It could be that the apartment above is badly soundproofed or not soundproofed at all and that even them going about their daily business causes stress and disruption to the neighbours below. When impact noise is the main concern, our MuteMat® OSF 750-03 offers a fantastic noise reduction for such a slim-line product, offering approximately 19dB reduction as a guide – an almost 75% reduction of impact noise issues – of course, this result is dependent on the overall thickness of the concrete substrate. Result here is taken from a 140mm concrete floor partition.

We would recommend the same process as above, the acoustic regulations for both conversions and new builds in Scotland are higher than that of England, Wales, Ireland and Northern Ireland. It would in the majority of cases involve the installation of a soundproof ceiling below such as our MuteClip® systems.

Far larger machinery that requires a fixing in to the flooring, the MuteMat® OSF 750-10 would not fair well as there would be multiple points of contact made to where vibration will travel in to. Lighter weight machinery and other equipment that can be set on top of MuteMat® OSF 750-10 would fair better in mitigating structural borne vibration.

If the structure and its plant machinery are yet to be installed – you would be best to look at using a floating screed construction with our MuteMat® USP range to gain the best separation possible.

It is not likely our MuteMat® OSF 750-03 would suffice against industrial machinery, it’s compressible values may hold up but the vibration created with any heavy machinery generates a lot of low end frequencies that would often require something more robust. If an over screed is required try out MuteMat® OSF 750-10. Or if you are in the planning stages, you would do better to create a floating screed construction with our MuteMat® USP 600-17 acoustic under screed system.

MuteMat® OSF 750-03 as a soundproofing over screed will only look to reduce impact noise in a concrete structure, which is often useful in garage conversions where there maybe a worry from impact of a kick drum or vibrations from a bass amplifier bypassing the wall soundproofing in place. If the studio is located above another room, a ceiling soundproofing solution may also be required so that both impact from source and the remaining reduction of airborne noise is addressed.

You can find all of our current information on this acoustic over screed and it’s compatibility from the results below with use in conjunction with underfloor heating systems

Thermal Conductivity = 0.113 W/mK

Thermal Resistance = 0.028 m²K/W

Temperature Stability = -35°c to +100°c.

MuteMat® OSF 750-03 can be installed retrospectively to help address any acoustic issues with impact noise, one of the most common uses is with the introduction of a hardened flooring above that would often create heavy noise issues below. We specify a range of soundproof underlays to address these scenarios.
